Celo Knob - The northern peak of the Black Mountain Crest

Over the past 25 years, I have specialized in the production of saggar and raku fired ceramics and more recently in garden related stoneware. Having retired from a career in city planning in 2012, I am now pursuing ceramic art on a more full time basis. My educational background in Physical Geography and Landscape Architecture as well as my enjoyment of the outdoors influences my work in numerous ways. I incorporate nature and graphic design as a decorative element on the classical ceramic forms I produce.

I have refined my ceramic skills at the Penland School of Crafts, Campbell Folk School, Dan Finch Pottery, and numerous workshops over the years facilitated by Steven Branfman, Linda & Charlie Riggs, Cynthia Bringle, Randy Broadnax, Don Ellis, Ellen Shankin, Nick Joerling, and many others. I moved to Burnsville, NC from Raleigh in 2016 to be closer to the mountains that have called me home. Now Iā€™m making pottery out of my newly constructed home studio as of 2020.
